Get ready
Preparing for Botox & Filler
A little preparation helps your Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, Jeuveau, or dermal filler appointment go smoothly and can lower your chance of bruising. These are general tips; your provider will give you instructions specific to you.
In the days before
- Where your provider advises it, consider pausing blood-thinning supplements and products such as fish oil, vitamin E, and similar items that can increase bruising.
- Limit alcohol in the day or two leading up to your appointment, since it can make bruising more likely.
- If you have an event coming up, schedule your appointment about two weeks ahead so any swelling or bruising has time to settle.
- Stay hydrated and eat a normal meal beforehand so you feel comfortable during your visit.
On the day
- Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area when possible.
- Let your provider know if you tend to bruise easily so we can plan accordingly.
- Mention any cold sore history, recent illness, dental work, or upcoming travel.
- Tell your provider about all medications and supplements you are taking.
Do
- Arrive with a clean, makeup-free treatment area.
- Mention any tendency to bruise so your provider can plan for it.
- Plan injectable appointments about two weeks before a special event.
- Follow the specific pre-treatment instructions your provider gives you.
Don’t
- Do not stop any prescription medication on your own; always check with your prescribing doctor first.
- Do not drink alcohol the day of your appointment.
- Do not schedule a major event for the same week if you are concerned about possible bruising.
This is general guidance. Always follow the specific pre- and post-treatment instructions your UDERMA provider gives you for your treatment and skin.
