What is Botox?
Also known as: Botox Cosmetic, OnabotulinumtoxinA
Botox is an injectable neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles to smooth dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet.
Botox is one of the most well-known brand-name neuromodulators. It is a purified form of botulinum toxin that, when injected in small, precise amounts, temporarily relaxes the muscle it targets. By easing the muscle movement that causes expression lines, it softens frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow's feet around the eyes.
Treatment is quick, results usually develop over several days to two weeks, and they typically last a few months. Beyond softening lines, Botox can be used for subtle brow lifts and other refinements. A thoughtful injector aims for a refreshed, natural look rather than a frozen one.
